Overview
The DeSales University Homeland Security major now offers a concentration in Data Analytics/Applied AI (Artificial Intelligence), which also counts as a minor in Data Analytics.
A Homeland Security degree continues to be a sought-after asset from both government and private employers. In fact, homeland security is the number one fastest-growing government-industry, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Data Analytics/Applied AI track will help you to be in even higher demand with your Homeland Security degree. Data analysts and data scientists are two of the most sought-after job positions in the U.S. and abroad, with some of the highest starting salaries right out of college. The future is based on AI and data analytics technologies.

Additional recommendations
High School Academics - Remember, there is no single preferred high school academic program, but a college preparatory course of study is highly recommended. Here's an example:
- Four years of English
- Three or four years of college preparatory mathematics
- A minimum of two years of modern, foreign, or classical language
- At least two laboratory science courses

We encourage you to apply early in your senior year. We use a rolling admissions system, which means you will be notified promptly about your admissions status—usually within four weeks of our receipt of your completed application.
Priority deadline for scholarship consideration is December 1 of your senior year.

Act 120 Police Academy Training
DeSales is proud to team up with the Allentown Police Academy to provide basic training for aspiring police officers. Students enter the academy as a part of the spring semester of their senior year. The cost for the academy is included in your regular spring tuition.
