What to Expect

At the DSU Writing Center, you can get help with any writing skill you are worried about, including:

  • MLA, APA, and other documentation formats
  • grammar, mechanics, and academic conventions
  • composing a thesis
  • organization of paragraphs and/or essays
  • development of research papers, literature, essays, seminar reports, etc.

Please note that tutoring is not the same as editing or proofreading; it is more like coaching. You will learn to improve your academic writing through the process of feedback from the tutor. Please come prepared to your appointment by bringing with you any of the following that pertain to your assignment:

  • your assignment prompt or rubric
  • your draft, printed out
  • your professor's markup for revisions
