  • Adjunct: Digital Art

    The Department of Mathematics/Computer Science is seeking applications for an adjunct instructor to teach course(s) in Digital Art for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. 

    Responsibilities include teaching traditional day courses at the DeSales University main campus in Center Valley, PA.

    The digital art adjunct will teach about story development, creating storyboards and animatics for introductory students. 

    Additional teaching opportunities may be available for candidates with knowledge of Graphic Design (Adobe Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC, and InDesign CC) and/or Web Design (HTML5 and CSS3, WordPress or Dreamweaver CC).

  • Full Time Faculty: Assistant Professor - TV/Film

    DeSales University’s Division of Performing Arts seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the area of TV/Film, with a focus on documentary production and post-production. The position requires candidates with MFA in film production, or a terminal degree in a directly related field. Candidates should also possess a wide skill-set and a recognized body of work as a filmmaker, and demonstrate a successful record of undergraduate teaching experience. This position is a nine-month appointment with possibility of summer employment with the DeSales Summer Video Institute.

    Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester in the following areas: documentary filmmaking (history, theory, and practice), basic film/video production, media literacy and ethics, film history and analysis, and editing/post-production. The position also involves academic advising of TV/Film majors, and service to the university. Additional job requirements: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere CC and experience with Avid Media Composer is required. Proficiency in other Adobe CC software – particularly After Effects, Audition, and Illustrator – is highly desirable.

    DeSales University has the leading film school in the region, with approximately 75 majors and four full-time and two regular part-time faculty. The TV/Film Department is committed to helping our students produce compelling works of digital cinema with exceptional aesthetic and production values, to tell meaningful stories that matter to our community and the world. The department produces an annual juried film festival, and co-produces annually with the Dance Department a 48-hour dance-on-camera competition and film festival. There is ample opportunity for further collaboration with the Theatre and Dance departments within the Division of Performing Arts. Appointment to begin August 2019.

  • Full Time Faculty: Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator - Physician Assistant

    Physician Assistant Program

    DeSales University is a Catholic liberal arts institution on a beautiful 480-acre campus in the Lehigh Valley of eastern Pennsylvania, approximately one hour from Philadelphia and two hours from New York City. Traditional-age students (1,700), evening-degree students (800), and graduate students (800) comprise the student body of 3,300. The nationally recognized PA Program has been very successful with 99% pass rates on the PANCE since 1999 and winning the AAPA National Challenge Bowl five times. The University has recently completed a $27 million building for the program with a state-of-the-art simulation center and a human anatomy lab. Students also run a free clinic at the Allentown Rescue Mission with faculty supervision. EOE

    Clinical Faculty

    DeSales University seeks one full-time clinical coordinator for its Physician Assistant Program. This is a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track position mainly responsible for teaching in the second year of the program and coordinating student clinical rotations. Responsibilities also include obtaining and maintaining clinical training sites for students and visiting and evaluating students and their preceptors during their clinical rotations within the greater Lehigh Valley. There is also responsibility for student advising and some classroom teaching. Applicants should enjoy a team concept and a dynamic, student-centered environment. One day per week is given for continued clinical practice. The ideal candidate will either be a physician assistant or a physician eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania. Physician assistants must be NCCPA certified. Physicians must be board certified. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.   • Full Time Faculty: Visiting Instructor - Sport and Exercise Physiology

    One-Year Visiting Instructor in Sport and Exercise Physiology

    The Department of Sport and Exercise Physiology at DeSales University invites applications for a one-year visiting instructor position in exercise physiology and sport science to begin in the fall semester, 2019. An MS in an exercise science related field is required. Professional certification by NSCA, ASEP or ACSM is desirable. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate-level courses in Research and Statistics, Fitness Leadership, Introduction to Sport Science, Nutrition for Human Activity, and related topics. Since DeSales University places a primary emphasis on teaching, preference will be given to candidates with significant teaching experience. This one-year visiting instructorship has the potential to become a full-time faculty position for a candidate with appropriate credentials.

  • Full Time Faculty: Assistant Professor - Clinical Nursing (Advanced Practice Clinical Simulation)

    DeSales University is seeking a full-time, Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing in Advanced Practice Clinical Simulation for Graduate and Undergraduate Nursing programs.  This 12-month faculty position is responsible for the planning, implementing, and executing all simulations for the Graduate Nursing programs and will also serve as a conduit for Undergraduate Nursing simulations. Responsibilities include collaborating with nursing faculty and other inter-professional faculty to develop simulation scenarios, supervising students during practice and/or remediation sessions, and assisting with precepting simulation sessions.

    This position reports directly to the Directors of Graduate and Undergraduate Nursing Programs, and to the Chair of Nursing. The person in this position will have ongoing communication with the Director and Simulation Specialists in the Simulation Center with regards to the operations, scheduling, and inventory control management in the Simulation Center. This position will maintain a positive working and collaborative relationship with the staff of the Simulation Center so they are able to work hand-in-hand in a cooperative fashion.

  • Full Time Faculty: Physical Therapy - Director of Clinical Education - Assistant Professor

We are currently inviting qualified applications for a full-time, 12-month, renewable faculty appointment for our Director of Clinical Education (DCE) position for the fall 2019 academic year.

    Job Description

    The DCE has the overall responsibility of providing leadership for and administration of the clinical education curriculum in order to meet the educational needs of our students, the mission and outcomes of the DPT program, and the evaluative criteria set by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The DCE serves as the primary liaison between the academic program and affiliated clinical education sites, providing ongoing communication with clinical instructors and students to assure that the intended learning outcomes for each clinical experience are met. Expectations include maintaining current clinical contracts, identifying diverse, new clinical sites, and overseeing the placement selection process and preparation of twenty-eight students in each of three cohorts through four full-time learning experiences. Teaching at a reduced load in the individual's content area of clinical expertise, student advising, maintenance of a scholarly line of inquiry, and service to the DPT Program and DeSales University are also components of this most valuable position.

    Job Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice physical therapy in Pennsylvania. An earned terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSC) with a proven record of teaching in a graduate physical therapy program is preferred. An individual with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree plus ABPTS board certification in a clinical specialization area will also be considered. In addition, a proven record of three to five years of contemporary clinical practice and three years clinical teaching or clinical coordination provides the desired candidate with the skill set and networking abilities needed to be successful in this position. An established line of scholarship or clinical research, and active membership in the American Physical Therapy Association is highly valued. Previous experience with the CAPTE accreditation process, particularly as it relates to the clinical education curriculum is also a valuable asset.

Medical Plans

DeSales University offers a choice of medical plans through Highmark: PPO Blue Plan (zero deductible), PPO Blue Plan with a deductible ($500/$1500 maximum per family deductible). The University contributes various dollar amounts toward health care premiums. Coverage is available the first of the month after a full-time employee’s date of hire. 

According to the DeSales University Spousal Coordination of Benefits Policy, Spouses of employees are ineligible for University coverage in any health care insurance plan if such spouse is eligible for coverage at his/her place of employment.

Life Insurance

DeSales University provides group term life insurance to all full-time employees. The amount of this policy is equal to 1.5 times the employee's annual salary to a maximum of $250,000 (amount reduces after age 70). Employees complete an initial beneficiary designation upon hire and may update it at any time.

Dental Plan

DeSales University offers dental insurance through United Concordia. The employee pays the entire premium for dental care.

Retirement Plans

Regular and group supplemental retirement plans are offered through TIAA-CREF. Participation may begin on the first day of the month following employment. After one year of service, the University will contribute 8% with a minimum employee contribution of 4%. Investment options include annuity; bond fund; equity index fund; global fund; real estate fund; growth fund; money market; social choice or stock fund.

Flexible Spending Plan

DeSales University offers employees the option to participate in a flexible spending account (FSA) through Payflex. This plan permits employees to pay for certain health care and day care expenses before-tax dollars. Contact human resources for complete details. The plan allows current participants to monitor and administer their plan through the Payflex website.

Long-Term Disability Insurance

DeSales University provides a group long-term disability (LTD) policy for all full-time employees on the first day of the month following one year of continuous service. The University pays the entire LTD premium to the carrier.
