  • Library Director

    DeSales University seeks to hire a visionary leader of its Trexler Library, and invites applications for a full-time, 12-month academic appointment of the Director of the Library to begin in June/July 2021. Applicants with a Master’s Degree in Library Science from a graduate program accredited by the American Library Association as well as a minimum of five years of administrative experience, preferably in a higher education setting, will be considered.  Applicants should clearly state experience in administration, leadership, strategic planning, budget, communications, technology, staff development, library science, and higher education.  Applications will be considered immediately and accepted until the position is filled.     The Director of the Library reports to the Provost and has faculty status without a tenure option. 

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

    • Articulates and implements a vision for the future of the library providing strategic leadership of the coordination and management of library services aimed to support teaching, learning and research;
    • Engages in scholarly activity and professional development to foster continued growth in the field of library science including the review and research of emerging technology and trends in university libraries;
    • Manages the library support available for undergraduate and graduate programs, both full- and part-time;
    • Partners closely with all academic programs to support faculty research, scholarship, curriculum, teaching, service, and student learning;
    • ·Oversees library operations including planning, budgeting, and assessment while serving as an advocate for library resources;Manages several direct reports which include librarians and other part-time library staff;
    • ·Plans and evaluates all library services and programs in consultation with the librarians;
    • Holds the final responsibility for all collection development and deselection decisions for monographs, serials, databases and software; 
    • Facilitates the development of online archives;
    • Creates proposals for the execution of programs that would enhance the academic programs of the University;
    • Produces timely library communications for the University community;
    • Regularly meets with fellow library directors from the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges (LVAIC), a regional consortium of six colleges and universities;
    • Completes yearly assessment of all library instruction and research support provided to University students, staff, and faculty;
    • Serves on University Committees as appointed by the Provost;
    • Collaboratively coordinates with the Academic Resource Center to provide tutoring space; and,
    • Provides timely feedback to the Provost and Academic Affairs staff regarding library programs and proposals.

  • Full Time Faculty: Nursing

    The Division of Nursing at DeSales University invites applications for a full-time faculty, tenure track, Nursing position.  Candidates with a Ph.D. or Ed.D., with a proven track record in teaching undergraduate nursing fundamentals and physical assessment courses, and the ability to teach in MSN and DNP, will be considered.

  • Full Time Faculty: Anatomy & Cadaver Lab Manager

    The Division of Healthcare Professions at DeSales University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in gross anatomy and cadaver lab manager, to begin during summer 2021.

    Duties will consist of teaching gross anatomy, both lecture and lab components.  These courses may be a part of the curriculum for various programs at the university, such as the master of science in physician assistant studies, the doctor of physical therapy program, master of science in speech-language pathology, and undergraduate programs in neuroscience, biology, and nursing.  Important components of the position will be the ability to manage and coordinate a cadaveric lab, including the procurement and preparation of donors, and the possible scheduling of the lab for use by entities external to the university.  This management will also include supervision of a lab technician who assists in maintaining the lab.   

    Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and training. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and documented excellence in teaching cadaveric human anatomy. The candidate is required to have a MS in anatomy or related basic science, but a terminal degree is preferred.  The position will report to the Department Chair of Sport and Exercise Physiology in the Division of Healthcare Professions.

  • Adjunct: Spanish

  • Adjunct: Communication (Public Speaking and Public Relations)

    DeSales University's Communication and Health Communication Programs housed in the Division of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences is seeking qualified part-time faculty to staff courses in the Fall 2021 semester, including public speaking and public relations. Medical Plans

DeSales University offers a choice of medical plans through Capital Blue Cross: PPO Blue Plan with a deductible ($500/$1000 maximum per family deductible), and a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) option. The University contributes various dollar amounts toward health care premiums. Coverage is available the first of the month after a full-time employee's date of hire.

According to the DeSales University Spousal Coordination of Benefits Policy, Spouses of employees are ineligible for University coverage in any health care insurance plan if such spouse is eligible for coverage at his/her place of employment.

Life Insurance

DeSales University provides group term life insurance to all full-time employees. The amount of this policy is equal to 1.5 times the employee's annual salary to a maximum of $250,000 (amount reduces after age 70). Employees complete an initial beneficiary designation upon hire and may update it at any time.

Dental Plan

DeSales University offers dental insurance through United Concordia. The employee pays the entire premium for dental care.

Retirement Plans

Regular and group supplemental retirement plans are offered through TIAA. Participation may begin on the first day of the month following employment. After one year of service, the University will contribute 4% with a minimum employee contribution of 2%. Investment options include annuity; bond fund; equity index fund; global fund; real estate fund; growth fund; money market; social choice or stock fund.

Flexible Spending Plan

DeSales University offers employees the option to participate in a flexible spending account (FSA) through Payflex. This plan permits employees to pay for certain health care and day care expenses before-tax dollars. Contact human resources for complete details. The plan allows current participants to monitor and administer their plan through the Payflex website.

Long-Term Disability Insurance

DeSales University provides a group long-term disability (LTD) policy for all full-time employees on the first day of the month following one year of continuous service. The University pays the entire LTD premium to the carrier.

Effective immediately and in accordance with Pennsylvania Act 153, all new faculty and staff at DeSales University whose position with the University has been determined to potentially have direct contact or routine interaction with individuals under 18 years of age must successfully complete a background check, including a Criminal History Report from the Pennsylvania State Police, a Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services and a fingerprint, based criminal history submitted through the FBI as a condition of employment. Additional background checks may be required based on the specific requirements of the position.
