Full Time Faculty: Speech Language Pathology, Director of Clinical Education – Assistant Professor
DeSales University invites qualified applications for a full-time, 12-month, renewable faculty appointment for our Director of Clinical Education (DCE) position in the new Communication Sciences & Disorders (CS&D) program. We value hands-on clinical instruction and supervision for student clinicians, interprofessional training, evidence-based practice, clinical innovation, community engagement, and culturally responsive practice. Along with dedicated classroom and clinical laboratory space, the Speech Language Pathology (SLP) program shares classrooms, a human gross anatomy laboratory, and a state-of-the-art Simulation Center with students in our nationally recognized nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant science programs.
Job Description
The DCE will provide leadership for the new University Speech Clinic and clinical education curriculum to meet the educational needs of our students, the mission and outcomes of the SLP program, and the evaluative criteria set by the Council on Academic Accreditation for Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA). The DCE will play a key role in the development of the program and will report to and receive direction from the Program Director to oversee management of all aspects of the University Speech & Swallowing Clinic and external clinical placements. The DCE will bring experience in clinic development and administration and serve as the primary liaison between the academic program and affiliated clinical education sites. Expectations of this role include:
- Assisting in the development of Clinic policies and procedures
- Assisting in establishing partnerships with the community and referral sources
- Assisting in the development of clinical faculty
- Managing operations of the Clinic to include the budget, schedule, and procurement of clinical materials and supplies
- Establishing, developing, and maintaining affiliation agreements with an adequate number of diverse external clinical placements to meet the educational needs of students, the mission and outcomes of the academic program, and the evaluative criteria set by CAA
- Overseeing the placement selection process and providing effective, ongoing communication with clinical educators and students while monitoring and documenting the academic performance of students to assure that they successfully achieve the criteria for completing clinical learning experiences
- Coordinating and teaching clinical education and other core curriculum courses based on areas of content knowledge and clinical expertise
- Awareness and experience understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement
- Contributing to SLP program curriculum design, review, and revision through the collection, analysis and dissemination of pertinent information from clinical education sites and student assessments to the program director and faculty
- Collaborating with the Program Director in producing reports and accreditation documents outlining the performance outcomes of students in the clinical education component of the SLP program
- Establishing and maintaining a plan for self-development that includes the participation in and enhancement of teaching, delivery of SLP services, and development of scholarly activities consistent with the SLP program, CAA, and university expectations

Required Job Qualifications
- M.A. or M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology
- Pennsylvania licensure (or eligible) in Speech-Language Pathology
- Minimum 3 years’ post-master’s clinical experience as a speech-language pathologist
- Knowledge of communication disorders across the lifespan
- Clinical supervision experience with ability to objectively evaluate clinical performance of student clinicians
- Commitment to interprofessional training and practice as might have been gained in clinical practice, training, teaching and other comparable experience
- An awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills
- Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students and the profession of speech-language pathology
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical doctorate, PhD, EdD or desire to pursue doctoral studies
- Three years clinical teaching or clinical coordination leading to the skills and networking abilities needed to be successful in this position
- Prior teaching experience with demonstrated understanding of adult learning theory and principles
- Extensive experience with supervision of graduate student clinicians
- Experience with managing speech and hearing clinics
- Training in best practices for clinical supervision and telepractice in speech-language pathology
- An active membership in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is highly valued
- Previous experience with the CAA accreditation process, particularly as it relates to the clinical education curriculum is also a valuable asset

Full Time Faculty: Assistant Professor of TV/Film Editing & Post-Production
DeSales University’s Division of Performing Arts invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in the area of TV/Film, with a focus on editing and post-production. The position requires candidates with an MFA in film production, or a terminal degree in a directly related field. Candidates should also possess a wide skill-set and a recognized body of work as a filmmaker, and demonstrate a successful record of undergraduate teaching experience. This position is a nine-month appointment with possibility of summer employment with the DeSales Summer Video Institute.
Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load, concentrated in the following areas:
- Editing for narrative and documentary/non-fiction (primary area)
- Sound for film & television

The TV/Film Department is committed to helping our students produce compelling works of digital cinema with exceptional aesthetic and production values, to share meaningful stories with our community and the world. The department produces an annual juried film festival, and co-produces annually with the Dance Department a Screendance competition and film festival. Full Time Faculty: Anatomy & Cadaver Lab Manager
The Division of Healthcare Professions at DeSales University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in gross anatomy and cadaver lab manager, to begin during summer 2021.
Duties will consist of teaching gross anatomy, both lecture and lab components. These courses may be a part of the curriculum for various programs at the university, such as the master of science in physician assistant studies, the doctor of physical therapy program, master of science in speech-language pathology, and undergraduate programs in neuroscience, biology, and nursing. Important components of the position will be the ability to manage and coordinate a cadaveric lab, including the procurement and preparation of donors, and the possible scheduling of the lab for use by entities external to the university. This management will also include supervision of a lab technician who assists in maintaining the lab.
Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and training. Preference will be given to applicants with experience and documented excellence in teaching cadaveric human anatomy. The candidate is required to have a MS in anatomy or related basic science, but a terminal degree is preferred. The position will report to the Department Chair of Sport and Exercise Physiology in the Division of Healthcare Professions.
