  • Full-Time Faculty: Sport and Exercise Physiology (Tenure-Track Position)

    The Department of Sport and Exercise Physiology at DeSales University invites applications for full-time tenure-track faculty position in Sport and Exercise Physiology.  A Ph.D. or A.B.D. in exercise physiology is required.   Professional certification as a Board Certified Exercise Physiologist (E.P.C.) by the American Society of Exercise Physiologists is highly desirable.   

    The successful candidate will teach undergraduate-level courses in Exercise Physiology, Fitness Assessment, Exercise Prescription, and related topics. Teaching may also involve courses in Anatomy and Physiology.  Since DeSales University places a primary emphasis on teaching, preference will be given to candidates with significant teaching experience.   Student advisement, mentoring of undergraduate research activity and coordination of exercise physiology laboratory work are additional expectations of the position.

  • Full Time Faculty: Psychology

    DeSales University's Department of Social Sciences housed in the Division of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences invites applications for a full-time non-tenure position as Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin January 2023. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the fields of developmental psychology and cognitive psychology. The candidate should be able to teach courses in cognitive psychology, human development, research methods in psychology, and senior seminar. The faculty member will be expected to teach undergraduate courses, maintain an active program of scholarship and professional development, and engage in service to the University. Online teaching experience desired.

  • Full Time Faculty: Director, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

    The Division of Nursing invites applications for a Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) track. This is a full-time position on the Clinical Nurse track.  

    The Director will have primary accountability for the operations and oversight of PMHNP student progression, enrollments, clinical placements, and curriculum.

    Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and training. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or DNP with a certification as a PMHNP and at least four years of clinical practice experience as a PMHNP.  Management experience a plus. The position will report to the Chair of Graduate Nursing.

  • Full Time Faculty: Anatomy

    The Department of Biology invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Anatomy. This is a non-tenure position, but the successful applicant can take advantage of long-term contracts with the possibility of conversion to tenure in the future.

    Teaching responsibilities include courses in Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II (lecture and lab), as well as contributing to our general biology curriculum and developing courses in area of expertise. Additionally, the candidate is expected to develop an active research program that will include undergraduate students.

    The Department of Biology is housed in the Priscilla Payne Hurd Science Center and Campbell Hall, which are well-equipped for anatomy, cell/tissue culture, fluorescence microscopy, small animal, molecular biology, and neuroscience research. University endowment funds are available to provide support for research endeavors.

    Salary and rank will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and training. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. (or ABD) in Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, or a related discipline. The position will report to the Division Head of Sciences and Mathematics.

    Adjunct: ACCESS (Adult Studies) — Multiple Disciplines Needed

    The ACCESS program seeks to maintain a qualified faculty pool for the following disciplines:

Medical Plans

 

DeSales University offers a choice of medical plans through Capital Blue Cross: PPO Blue Plan with a deductible ($500/$1000 maximum per family deductible), and a Qualified High Deductible Health Plan (QHDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) option. The University contributes various dollar amounts toward health care premiums. Coverage is available the first of the month after a full-time employee's date of hire.

According to the DeSales University Spousal Coordination of Benefits Policy, Spouses of employees are ineligible for University coverage in any health care insurance plan if such spouse is eligible for coverage at his/her place of employment.

On October 29, 2020, the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury finalized proposed rules regarding transparency requirements for non-grandfathered group health plans. DeSales University sponsors a self-funded medical plan. Capital Blue Cross (CBC) provides DeSales University with a Uniform Resources Locator where machine-readable files ("MRF's") for the plan will be posted publicly and updated monthly in order to view in-network provider rates for covered items and services and out-of-network allowed amounts and billed charges for covered items and services. DeSales University has added this link to its public-facing website.

Life Insurance

DeSales University provides group term life insurance to all full-time employees. The amount of this policy is equal to 1.5 times the employee's annual salary to a maximum of $250,000 (amount reduces after age 70). Employees complete an initial beneficiary designation upon hire and may update it at any time.

Dental Plan

DeSales University offers dental insurance through United Concordia. The employee pays the entire premium for dental care.

Retirement Plans

Regular and group supplemental retirement plans are offered through TIAA. Participation may begin on the first day of the month following employment. After one year of service, the University will contribute 8% with a minimum employee contribution of 2%. Investment options include annuity; bond fund; equity index fund; global fund; real estate fund; growth fund; money market; social choice or stock fund.

Flexible Spending Plan

DeSales University offers employees the option to participate in a flexible spending account (FSA) through Further. This plan permits employees to pay for certain health care and day care expenses before-tax dollars. Contact human resources for complete details. The plan allows current participants to monitor and administer their plan through the Further website.

Long-Term Disability Insurance

DeSales University provides a group long-term disability (LTD) policy for all full-time employees on the first day of the month following one year of continuous service. The University pays the entire LTD premium to the carrier.

DeSales University offers tuition remission benefits as well as tuition exchange and CIC scholarship opportunities.

Athletic Facilities are available to staff members for their use at times when the facilities are not being used by the University or by authorized rentals. Spouses of employees are also eligible.


Effective immediately and in accordance with Pennsylvania Act 153, all new faculty and staff at DeSales University whose position with the University has been determined to potentially have direct contact or routine interaction with individuals under 18 years of age must successfully complete a background check, including a Criminal History Report from the Pennsylvania State Police, a Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services and a fingerprint, based criminal history submitted through the FBI as a condition of employment. Additional background checks may be required based on the specific requirements of the position.
