  • Faculty: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

    DeSales University Division of Nursing is seeking faculty to teach in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Applicants may be considered for a part-time, joint appointment, or full-time position. Qualified applicants must possess an MSN with national board certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner; PhD or DNP preferred. Release time is available for full-time faculty for continued clinical practice.

  • Full Time Faculty: Assistant Professor of Management

    DeSales University’s Division of Business, an ACBSP accredited program, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Management beginning Fall 2020. Responsibilities include teaching management, organizational behavior, international business, strategic management, and related courses in our undergraduate and MBA programs. Experience teaching online, and the ability to teach data analytics or supply chain management is a plus. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to combine teaching excellence with scholarly and other appropriate professional activity.

    Required Qualifications

    • A Ph.D. or D.B.A. in management, OB/OT, international business, strategic management or a closely-related discipline (or A.B.D.) strongly preferred. Master’s degrees with extensive industry experience will be considered.
    • An interest in teaching in a Catholic liberal arts environment.
    • Industry experience in management, operations, and related areas is preferred.
    • A clear ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and masters levels in the area of management and related areas.
    • Demonstrated ability, or potential, to publish in refereed journals.

  • Full Time Faculty: Founding Program Director, Speech-Language Pathology

    DeSales University is seeking a Founding Director to develop a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology program while pursuing Council of Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) accreditation. The Director will be a demonstrated leader who shares our Salesian values of gentleness, humility, gratitude, wisdom and inclusivity. Reporting to the Division Head, Healthcare Programs and Graduate Dean, the Director will develop a mission-driven program that complements our portfolio of successful healthcare and nursing programs. 

    The Director will be responsible for the following: 

    • lead the planning, curriculum development, program management and implementation of the new master’s level program in speech language pathology. 
    • collaborate with the university leadership to further define program needs, including the development of a clinic. 
    • oversee the accreditation process to ensure standards are met, reports are submitted and compliance is achieved. 
    • recruit and oversee highly-qualified teaching and clinical faculty. Conduct assessment of faculty and curriculum for the department. 
    • establish and cultivate partnerships with appropriate providers for student clinical experiences. 
    • market and promote the graduate program in collaboration with the marketing and admissions teams. 
    • partner with the Dean, Undergraduate Studies and relevant Department Chairs to develop appropriate undergraduate prerequisite coursework. 
    • work with health science and nursing faculty to develop inter-professional education (IPE) experiences. 
    • oversee budget planning and fiscal management for the program. 
    • maintain competence and demonstrate pursuit of lifelong learning. 

    Qualified candidates must possess: 

    • an earned doctorate (PhD, EdD or clinical doctorate) and a graduate degree in speech-language pathology
    • current American Speech – Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certification in speech-language pathology 
    • Pennsylvania state licensure or willingness to pursue state licensure 
    • teaching experience in speech-language pathology coursework

Medical Plans

DeSales University offers a choice of medical plans through Highmark: PPO Blue Plan (zero deductible), PPO Blue Plan with a deductible ($500/$1500 maximum per family deductible). The University contributes various dollar amounts toward health care premiums. Coverage is available the first of the month after a full-time employee’s date of hire. 

According to the DeSales University Spousal Coordination of Benefits Policy, Spouses of employees are ineligible for University coverage in any health care insurance plan if such spouse is eligible for coverage at his/her place of employment.

Life Insurance

DeSales University provides group term life insurance to all full-time employees. The amount of this policy is equal to 1.5 times the employee's annual salary to a maximum of $250,000 (amount reduces after age 70). Employees complete an initial beneficiary designation upon hire and may update it at any time.

Dental Plan

DeSales University offers dental insurance through United Concordia. The employee pays the entire premium for dental care.

Retirement Plans

Regular and group supplemental retirement plans are offered through TIAA-CREF. Participation may begin on the first day of the month following employment. After one year of service, the University will contribute 8% with a minimum employee contribution of 4%. Investment options include annuity; bond fund; equity index fund; global fund; real estate fund; growth fund; money market; social choice or stock fund.

Flexible Spending Plan

DeSales University offers employees the option to participate in a flexible spending account (FSA) through Payflex. This plan permits employees to pay for certain health care and day care expenses before-tax dollars. Contact human resources for complete details. The plan allows current participants to monitor and administer their plan through the Payflex website.

Long-Term Disability Insurance

DeSales University provides a group long-term disability (LTD) policy for all full-time employees on the first day of the month following one year of continuous service. The University pays the entire LTD premium to the carrier. 

Tuition Benefits

DeSales University offers tuition remission benefits as well as tuition exchange and CIC scholarship opportunities.

Athletic Facilities are available to staff members for their use at times when the facilities are not being used by the University or by authorized rentals. Spouses of employees are also eligible.

Effective immediately and in accordance with Pennsylvania Act 153, all new faculty and staff at DeSales University whose position with the University has been determined to potentially have direct contact or routine interaction with individuals under 18 years of age must successfully complete a background check, including a Criminal History Report from the Pennsylvania State Police, a Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services and a fingerprint, based criminal history submitted through the FBI as a condition of employment. Additional background checks may be required based on the specific requirements of the position.
