1. What made you want to study early childhood education?

I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was young. I grew up with my mom and my two aunts being teachers. I knew I wanted to do something that helps kids and helps shape their minds.

2. Describe your reaction when you found out you won the Leadership Scholarship.

I was in school helping with my student council’s hot chocolate sale. I got a text from my admissions counselor asking if she could call me as she had some exciting news. I thought that this can’t be real.

I ran to the student council’s office and answered the call, and when she told me that I won the scholarship, I started to cry. I went back to the cafeteria to where my friend Mia, who is actually now my roommate here at DeSales, was and I told her and she started screaming and crying. It was such a great feeling.

3. Tell us about your Orientation and first-year experience so far.

I love it here! I can’t imagine myself being anywhere else. I loved Orientation and want to be a mentor next year. I also love how CAB is always looking for new events for us to do and trying to engage the student body more.

4. Favorite thing about DeSales?

I love the friendships I’ve made here so quickly. I connected with a few different girls here, and we go to sporting events and get dinner together. I love that I found my home here.

5. Fun fact about yourself?

My roommate, Mia, and I went to the same high school, and she’s also on a full scholarship.

The Leadership Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship offered to six students who have shown outstanding leadership in their high school careers and who plan to continue to develop those skills at DeSales. The deadline to submit your application, essay, and resume is Friday, December 1, 2023.
