DeSales University has appointed Terese Wignot, Ph.D., to serve as the next provost.

Wignot, who was most recently the associate provost for academic partnerships at Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, will begin her new role on August 1.

“I am confident that Terri’s experience and expertise in boosting enrollment and developing strategic partnerships will help us advance our Catholic, Salesian mission in these two core areas.”

Father James Greenfield, OSFS ’84, Ed.D., president of DeSales

Wignot has more than 30 years of experience at Wilkes University, serving in both faculty and administrative roles, including interim provost. She began her career at Wilkes teaching chemistry and biochemistry courses and served as coordinator, and later chair, of the chemistry department.

As associate provost of enrollment services, Wignot led the overall enrollment strategy, overseeing undergraduate and graduate admissions offices, enrollment services, and marketing. Under her leadership, Wilkes enrolled the largest first-year class in its history.

DeSales University’s Academic Leadership Transition Committee, led by Thomas Whalen, M.D., trustee and chair of the academic affairs committee, managed the national search and considered more than 70 applicants for the role. Robert Blumenstein, Ph.D., professor and dean of undergraduate education, served as interim provost during the search.
