Did you know that May is National Asian American Pacific Islander Month? Each year, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are recognized for their cultural heritage, contribution to American life, and key role in American history.

This year is an especially important time to recognize the experience of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders as anti-Asian hate crimes have risen significantly since the start of COVID-19. The group Stop AAPI Hate has gathered and analyzed reports of anti-Asian discrimination over the last year. Their website provides resources to report incidents, protect yourself, and learn what actions can be taken to stop the increasing number of hate crimes.

Trexler Library will also be sharing a variety of resources by Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders throughout the month. You can find recommended books, movies, and more at our AAPI Heritage Month guide, and follow us @desales_trexler on Instagram for highlights.
