There’s still time to participate in Trexler Library’s Third Annual Poetry Contest! The contest is in celebration of National Poetry Month and is open to the entire DeSales community. Students are eligible for our $50 Bookstore gift card first place prize. In addition, we’ll select a second place student winner will receive a $25 Bookstore gift card. The contest is open from April 1-30, 2021.

You can enter the Contest at the Poetry Month display in our lobby, where you can post your original poem. You can also submit your poem through email to reference@desales.edu. All entries will be posted online at our National Poetry Month guide.

Be sure to also check out our new display (pictured above) dedicated to our current National Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo. She is the first Native American to hold the honor and considered an important figure in the literary Native American Renaissance of the late 20th century. Harjo has numerous published works, included nine books of poetry and two children’s books. You can find more information about her life and work at our display and her works in our collection here.
