The DeSales TV/Film students have been instrumental in filming these productions to deliver them in a virtual format. In addition, the Act 1 faculty and guest directors and designers continue to enjoy the challenge of discovering new ways to design sets, costumes, lighting, and sound for both social distancing and filmed live productions.

*Streaming rights are limited by the licensing organizations; not all shows are permitted to be streamed.

DeSales Dance Ensemble Concert Features a Major Historical Reconstruction and a Slate of World Premieres

by Roseann Damico-Schatkowski Mar 15, 2019
The DeSales Dance Ensemble showcases a spectacular slate of original choreography by nationally renowned guest choreographers as well as the esteemed choreographers on the Dance Department faculty.

The division of performing arts at DeSales University is pleased to announce the capstone event in the 2019 dance season, the Dance Ensemble Concert opening Friday March 15 in the Main Stage theatre of the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts.

The DeSales Dance Ensemble showcases a spectacular slate of original choreography by nationally renowned guest choreographers as well as the esteemed choreographers on the Dance Department faculty.

Continuing its commitment to historically significant masterworks, this year’s concert will feature a restaging of excerpts of Ronald K. Brown’s Four Cornersa piece that premiered in 2014 when it was first performed by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.

“Ronald K. Brown is one of the most sought-after choreographers working today,” says Timothy Cowart, chair of the dance department and artistic director. “This dance is meant to be a prayer or a blessing to the four directions of the compass and it draws on the beauty and deep cultural heritage of traditional African rhythms and forms.”

The Dance Ensemble Concert will also feature works choreographed by a number of guest choreographers.

The Dance Ensemble Concert runs March 15 at 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM and March 16 at 8:00 PM and March 17 at 3:00 PM.  All performances will take place on the Main Stage of the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts
