Success at the Virtual Career Fair

by Melanie Vallone, Assistant Director of Employer and Alumni Relations Feb 28, 2021

It is that time of year again! The Career Center is gearing up for our annual Spring Career and Internship Fair! This year it will be on Wednesday, March 24, from 1-4pm on Handshake! This is our third joint virtual fair with Moravian College and Cedar Crest College.

Are you new to Handshake? Be sure to create your free account and register for the event!

This virtual career fair is an online event hosted by DeSales University (along with Moravian and Cedar Crest). This means that you and students from these schools can attend the event for free!

On March 24, employers from over 50 organizations will show up to meet students that they want to hire! These employers set up group sessions (30-minute meetings where you can watch, listen, and use the chat feature to engage) or 1:1 sessions (10-minute meetings with just you and the recruiter, discussing the company and the positions).

We have some of the biggest employers in the Lehigh Valley registered

  • Air Products
  • PPL Corporation
  • Crayola
  • Olympus
  • ADP
  • ArtsQuest
  • BBraun

As well as the healthcare networks and organizations

  • LVHN
  • St. Luke’s
  • Good Shepherd
  • Tower Health
  • Phoebe Ministries
  • Health Network Labs

Any of these organizations are a great fit for many majors! Read the full list of employers to see which interest you.

If you are new to virtual fairs, or you see an employer that you would really like to meet, be sure to attend our prep session. On March 17th, at 5pm, we are hosting a Career Fair Prep Zoom session (passcode: career). This is a perfect opportunity for you to learn how to register for the event and set up your Group or 1:1 video sessions.

During the Career/Internship Fair, we will have a Zoom Help Room (passcode: career) for any students with questions throughout the fair, available from 12:30-4pm.

There are many DSU Career Development Center Resources on MyDSU

In the meantime, be sure to have your resume reviewed by the DSU Career Development Center. Schedule a Zoom meeting.  Be sure you are dressed to impress and have a suitably quiet space to have your Group or 1:1 video sessions during the fair.

Handshake also provides great resources on how to prepare for a virtual career fair:
