Dr. Sean Griech is an associate professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at DeSales University. He earned his BS in physical therapy from Daemen College, his transitional DPT from Shenandoah University, and his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies with a focus on ethics from Alvernia University. Additionally, Dr. Griech is a board-certified orthopedic specialist (OCS), a certified orthopedic manual therapist (COMT), and has successfully completed his certificate of competence in Vestibular Rehabilitation from Emory University. 

Dr. Griech has over 20 years of experience, having practiced extensively in outpatient physical therapy.  He continues to practice in an outpatient clinic as well as in the university pro bono clinic.

Dr. Griech's teaching responsibilities are primarily in the first year of the curriculum within the musculoskeletal content. He directs the Differential Diagnosis and Intervention series of courses, as well as co-teaching the Musculoskeletal series of courses with Dr. Karagiannopoulos.  He also supervises students in the outpatient pro bono clinic in Clinical Reasoning 1, and contributes to the Health and Wellness course in the areas of Social Determinants of Health.

Dr. Griech's research agenda is centered around ethical leadership, with a focus on the social determinant of health.  Dr. Griech is also a faculty mentor for student research projects in PT Research 1-4, directing student research projects in various topics of musculoskeletal differential diagnosis and examination.  Sean has extensively published his work in peer-reviewed journals, as a book chapter contributor, and most recently as co-editor of the textbook Clinical Cases for Physical Therapists: Studies Across the Medical Continuum, published by Thieme. Dr. Griech regularly presents his work at regional and national conferences and serves as a reviewer for several journals and textbooks.

Dr. Griech is very active within the Federal State Board of Physical Therapy (FSBPT), holding several appointments for the FSBPT, most recently as a board-elected member of the Exam Development Committee. He has also been honored by the FSBPT by being nominated to the academy of advanced item writers.

Dr. Griech grew up in western Pennsylvania and is a huge fan of all Pittsburgh sports.  In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, the outdoors, and spending time with his wife and three children.
