Originally from Ohio, Dr. Crerand spent nearly twenty years in the deep south (Louisiana and Florida) where he cultivated a love of gumbo and renovating old houses. Saturdays in the fall, his mind migrates west where it lives and dies with Ohio State football.

He plays guitar (badly), listens to Springsteen (too much), and shares a name with a distant cousin who played soccer for Manchester United in the 60s, though none of that football prowess has rubbed off on him (yet).

In 2018, Dr. Crerand published a collection of short stories titled, The Paper Life They Lead. His short fiction and essays have appeared in magazines like North American Review, McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern, Conjunctions, The St. Petersburg Times, and New Orleans Review among other journals.

Dr. Crerand holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, an MFA in Fiction from Bowling Green State University, and a BA in English from The Ohio State University.

When he is not writing or teaching, Dr. Crerand is spending time with his lovely wife, Anna, and their three children.
