A native Pennsylvanian, Margaret Ayala grew up in Leesport before moving to the Lehigh Valley in 2009. She is a DeSales University alumna and received her Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in English with dual minors in creative writing and journalism. She then received her Master of Fine Arts in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA, specializing in horror, urban fantasy, and new adult/young adult fiction.

Her areas of specialty include American horror, mythology and folklore, young adult literature, and composition. She currently teaches both composition and rhetoric and literature courses.

Aside from teaching at DeSales, she has taught literature and college success courses at Northampton Community College, tutored English and writing, and served as an academic coach.

She has also taught writing in DeSales’ DREAMS (DeSales Reinforcing Education among Multicultural Students) and Gateway to Success programs, both which serve to support at-risk high school students and incoming freshmen.

She currently resides in Bethlehem, PA.
