Karen Ruggles, MS

Karen Ruggles is an associate professor of computer science at DeSales University. Prior to joining the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at DeSales, she earned an MS from DePaul University and a BA degree from Lafayette College, where she double majored in English and studio art. Professor Ruggles is an MFA candidate at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Professor Ruggles' teaching and research interests include virtual storytelling, animation, digital cinema, virtual reality (VR), and 3D modeling and printing.

While at Lafayette College, her interests in community and art blended together for her honors documentary thesis on Juvenile Justice and At-Risk Teens. That experience took her inside a juvenile detention facility and a few child and youth group homes.

As an undergraduate, Professor Ruggles traveled to 14 different countries. She took her camera on her travels and some of her photos are proudly displayed in her office.

She currently resides in Easton with her husband, Matt, and their daughters Sydney and Claire.
