Alan Heckman, MSPAS, PA-C is a board certified physician assistant and joined the faculty in 2013. He is a 2004 graduate of Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science in secondary education, specializing in communications, and a 2011 graduate of DeSales University with a Master of Science in physician assistant studies. Alan is the recipient of the 2011 Faculty Award from the DeSales University Physician Assistant Program.
His clinical experience includes emergency medicine, family medicine, and cardiothoracic surgery/critical care. In addition, Alan is a nationally certified paramedic and has worked in the pre-hospital clinical environment since 1996. Presently, he works as a per diem flight paramedic for Lehigh Valley MedEvac and continues to teach pre-hospital medicine on a regular basis. He serves as a clinical preceptor and volunteers at the DeSales Free Clinic at the Allentown Rescue Mission. Alan also serves as the associate medical director for Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Allentown, PA.
Academically, Alan has published in multiple textbooks, including textbooks of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and has presented at local, state, and national conferences.
