Police and Public Safety

The men and women employed in the University Police Department are deeply committed to protecting and caring for the safety and well-being of students, staff, and faculty.

The Office of University Police is responsible for security and law enforcement on the campus of DeSales University. All students, employees, and visitors are encouraged to report all incidents, emergencies and crimes directly to this department.

University Police are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Call boxes across the campus, as well as the emergency phone numbers listed below, allow for immediate contact with University Police.

Emergency

  • Dial 911 or 1250 from a campus phone or call box
  • Dial 610.282.1100 ext. 1250 from a cell phone, pay phone, or from an off-campus location

Non-Emergency

The Administrative Offices of the University Police are located on the second floor of the Lawless Center, on DeSales Drive just off of Landis Mill Road.

The DeSales University Police Department is committed to student safety as its highest priority. We provide comprehensive programs including security patrol, student transportation, emergency alerts and access control to help maintain a safe and secure campus environment that is conducive to learning, working, living, and visiting.

Police Services

  • Response to Fires and Other Emergencies

    The fire alarm system in all buildings is connected to a central computer located at DeSales University Police Department. The fire alarm system in all buildings is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week by University Police. Upon activation of an alarm, officers immediately respond accordingly.

  • Emergency Medical Aid

    All officers are trained in basic first aid, CPR, NARCAN, oxygen administration and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). AED/oxygen use at DeSales University complies with federal, state and local regulations governing the training and use of AED units. When emergency medical care and/or transport is required, Upper Saucon Ambulance Corps is requested by University Police through Lehigh County Communications Center.
  • Motorist Assistance

    For assistance with a disabled vehicle or a vehicle lockout, contact the University Police at 610-282-1002.
  • Student Transport Service

    The University Police Department provides a student transport service for all members of the University community from sunset to sunrise seven days per week. Individuals requesting the use of the student transport service should contact the University Police at extension 1250. The student transport service is also provided for sick/injured members of the University community 24 hours per day.
  • Lost and Found

    Inquiries concerning lost and found articles should be directed to the Office of University Police, Lawless Center. 
  • Bicycle Registration

    Individuals are encouraged to register their bicycles with the DeSales University Police Department. Registration enables found bikes to be identified and returned to the owner. Registration forms are available from the DeSales University Police Department, Lawless Center.
  • DSUTIP Anonymous Crime Reporting

    Criminal incidents and tips may be anonymously reported to the DeSales University Police Department by texting DSUTIP and your message to 50911. All information is kept confidential. Individuals may report all types of crimes, including drug activity, assaults and thefts. Please provide us with as much information as possible, including when the crime occurred. If known, also provide the name and description of the person(s) who committed the crime. If you wish to be contacted, please leave your name and telephone number.

    DSUTIP is not intended for in-progress crimes. If you are currently witnessing a crime or need immediate assistance on campus, dial extension 1250 from an on campus phone or 610.282.1002 from any phone.

  • Fingerprint Services

    DeSales University can provide fingerprint services for those students who may need them for employment or internship opportunities. Please contact the DeSales University Police Department at 610.282.1002 to schedule an appointment.

There's plenty of parking available on our 500+ acre campus. So, unlike many schools, our freshman can bring their cars to campus! Lots can be found on the campus map.
