“Overall, I felt that this was the best school for me just because of how well- rounded they wanted their people to be. To me, that’s one of the most important things in picking a school.”
What does this scholarship mean to you?
This scholarship means the world because this school is so unique and that’s why I absolutely love it. The University values the person: your personal skills and your personal traits.
Describe your reaction when you found out you won.
I just felt overwhelmed with joy. My parents were so excited. It was an amazing feeling to know that all of my hard work paid off.
What was your essay about?
The essay I wrote was about how I was selected as the queen of the Barnum Festival. There was a mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut and he did a lot of community service outreach for low-income people. In his legacy, each year they elect a court. You had to be nominated by your high school, go through an interview process, then go to a social. The queen was the highest honor that you could get.
In high school, I was called the mayor by everyone because I was so involved with anything and everything. Every teacher knew me by name.
