Calling all actors! The TV/Film program at DeSales University invites people of all ages to show off their acting chops at a general casting call on Monday, October 16.
Participants are encouraged to bring a headshot and resume, and to come prepared with a one-minute monologue. They will be entered into a database that DeSales students can use for future film projects.
Esther Duran, assistant professor in TV/Film, began the audition last year after noticing that her students were mainly featuring young actors in their films.
“I thought that was limiting,” she says. “They weren’t really pushing themselves to use the older age range. I thought it would be good to start contacting local actors with a wider range of ages and build a database.”
While participating in the audition secures actors a spot in the database, it does not guarantee a part in any film projects. Still, students in Duran’s directing class cast at least three or four actors from last year’s audition in their films.
