The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace is accepting applications for the 2012 Societas Award for Responsible Corporate Conduct.  The Forum, under the administration of the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University, has made the application available here.

The Societas Award competition is open to all for-profit companies headquartered in Eastern Pennsylvania. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of independent judges comprised of business and academic professionals, and the winners will be presented at a breakfast program sponsored by the Forum in September.

To be eligible for the award, companies must submit a detailed application package that addresses recognized elements of ethical business practices such as compliance with both the letter and spirit of the law, accountability at all levels of the organization, and corporate citizenship. The information included in the application should be readily available at companies with standard quality and compliance programs in place.

The competition was introduced last year as a method for demonstrating how real companies apply ethical business practices in the course of their daily operations. Lafayette Ambassador Bank was chosen among four finalists to receive the 2011 Societas Award.

All applications must be submitted by July 15, 2012, in order to be considered for this year’s award.

About the Forum

The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace is a partnership institution of the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University on January 1, 2006. The Salesian Center for Faith and Culture was established in 2000 to promote the interaction of faith and culture, in a mutually beneficial engagement, through academic initiatives that focus on the authentic integration of social concerns and gospel values.

By its collaboration with the Forum, the Salesian Center is able to extend its mission of social engagement into the corporate world and is able to capitalize on the working relationships that the Forum has already established in the business community. The Salesian Center supports intellectual activity in research studies, dialogue events including public forums and lectures and partnership programs.
