Undergraduate Scholarships Information

• Merit Scholarships

  All applicants are automatically considered for academic merit scholarship. Though the new SAT is based on a possible score of 2400, which includes the new writing sample, DeSales University will review the composite SAT score of your Critical Reading and Math for Merit Scholarship consideration.

  Merit Scholarships at DeSales University are awarded on a competitive basis to incoming first year students based upon their academic achievement and potential leadership within the academic and activity arenas of the University community.

  Scholarship notification will begin January 15 with priority consideration granted to students who have applied by December 1 of their senior year.

  • Presidential Scholarships ($11,000-Full Tuition)
    To be considered for this scholarship, students must have achieved a combined SAT score of 1300 (29 ACT), and rank in the top 5 percent of their high school class.
  • Trustee Scholarships ($6,000-$10,000)
    To be considered for this scholarship, students must have achieved a combined SAT score of 1200 (27 ACT), and rank in the top 15 percent of their high school class.
  • DeSales Scholarships ($4,000)
    To be considered for this scholarship, students must have achieved a combined SAT score of 1100 (24 ACT), and rank in the top 25 percent of their high school class.

• Department Scholarships ($500-$2,500)

  To be considered for these scholarships, students must participate in a Scholarship Day held in December or January (depending upon the academic department awarding the scholarship). Each of our 33 majors offer awards for demonstrated excellence within the field of study.
  
  

• Tuition Incentive Program ($5,000)

  Graduates of Allentown Diocesan schools and Oblate high schools who are entering DeSales in the Fall are offered $5,000 awards.
  
  

• Catholic Schools Grants ($3,000)

  Awards are offered to graduates of Catholic high schools who are entering DeSales in the Fall. Sorry, but raduates of Catholic Home Schooling agencies do not qualify for the Catholic Schools Grant.
  
  

• Scholarship Opportunities for Transfer Students

  The following two programs are mutually exclusive. Students qualifying for both programs will receive the higher of the two awards.

  Transfer Scholarship Program
  The Transfer Scholarship Program (TSP) offers academic scholarships worth $3,500-$6,000 per year to qualified transfer students. 

  Eligibility
  To qualify for TSP, you must meet the following criteria: 

  • Apply by October 1st for the spring semester or by May 1st for the fall semester
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 upon transferring to DeSales University
  • Have at least eight (8) courses that will transfer to DeSales University
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while a student at DeSales University
  • Enter DeSales University as a full-time, traditional day student.

  Tuition Opportunity Program
  We established the Tuition Opportunity Program (TOP) to help graduates of articulated community colleges attend DeSales University. Eligible students receive grants equal to the amount of their tuition paid to the community college. 

  Eligibility
  To be eligible, you must have completed an A.A. or A.S. degree at an articulated community college and be entering DeSales University as a full-time traditional junior. (Please refer to the Transfer Student Admission Guide for a list of articulated community colleges.)
