Application Process

The following process should be followed by applicants seeking admission to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program:

1.  Complete and submit an on-line application.

2.  Submit a non-refundable $50 application processing fee.  (Make check or money 
    order payable to DeSales University)  An application fee waiver code will be provided
    to those that attend a DPT program information session.

3.  Submit a completed Prerequisite Coursework form.

4.  Send official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate course work from
    all institutions previously attended.  To be considered official, transcripts must
    have the college or university seal and be sent directly to the DPT Program, DeSales
    University, 2755 Station Avenue, Center Valley, PA  18034 from each institution
    the applicant attended.

    A. All transcripts from any degree-granting institution outside the United States must
        be evaluated by a NACES approved evaluation service with the resulting report
        submitted with the DPT program application.  Please visit for

    B.  International applicants from a country where the official language is other than 
         English must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language
         (TOEFL). Please visit for additional information.

5.  Submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. Please visit for
     additional information.

6.  On a separate page, submit a typed 500 word essay detailing your interest in the
     field of physical therapy, including a description of academic, employment and
     volunteer experiences related to the field.

7.  Submit completed and signed Verification of Physical Therapy Clinical Observation
     form(s) verifying at least 100 hours of observation in 2 or more physical therapy
     facilities representing different healthcare organizations.  Observation in a minimum 
     of 2 physical therapy practice settings is recommended (outpatient rehabilitation,
     inpatient rehabilitation, acute care/hospital, sports medicine, geriatrics, home health,
     pediatrics, etc.).  This form should be submitted directly to the DPT program by the
     individual that completes it.

8.  Submit a minimum of two Applicant Recommendation forms,  completed by
     non-relative, professional individuals, including, but not limited to, professors,
     employers, and coaches, and excluding the licensed physical therapist(s) with whom 
     observation was performed.  This form should be submitted directly to the DPT
     program by the individual that completes it.
9.  Indicate understanding of and ability to meet all Technical Standards and
     Essential Functions required of physical therapy practice by submitting the signed
     and dated acknowledgement form

Please note that all applicants considered for acceptance into the DPT Program will be required to participate in an on-campus interview with DPT faculty prior to any admission decision.
