DSU ACM Chapter
ACM is the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society uniting the world's computing educators, researchers and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources and address the field's challenges. To know more about the Association of Computing Machinery, visit http://www.acm.org/about/fact_sheet.
The ACM Chapter at DeSales University provides strong leadership opportunities for students by providing positions for chapter officers such as President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The chapter hosts a Speaker Series every year, where a professional from a local industry is invited on-campus to discuss career prospects with the students.
Students also visit the company campus to explore the working environment of the company. Students involved in this chapter perform a computer build twice a year after which the computers are donated. The ACM membership allows student access to current research, conferences, publications, educational programs, public awareness activities, and special interest groups (SIGs).
The SIGs specialize in different areas of computer science such as mobile applications, game development, high performance computing, operating systems, security, and more. The students can become a part of these special interest groups and can also create a new SIG as a part of the local chapter.
