Megan Nicole O'Brien is a director and educator specializing in musical theatre. For seventeen years, she served as Co-Founder and Resident Director of Philadelphia's 11th Hour Theatre Company. She has received five Barrymore Award nominations for Outstanding Direction of a Musical for Field Hockey Hot, See What I Wanna See, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, Avenue X, and The Bomb-itty of Errors.
Megan has directed throughout the Philadelphia region and beyond, including work with Milwaukee Repertory Theater, The Walnut Street Theatre, Theatre Horizon, Montgomery Theater, and Act II Playhouse, as well as Temple University, the University of the Arts, and Drexel University. Throughout her career, Megan has collaborated with writers and creative teams on the development of new musicals, including directing the world premieres of Field Hockey Hot and Big Red Sun.
Megan has also taught at Temple University, the University of Pennsylvania, and DeSales University. She holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Collaboration with a focus in directing from Temple University and a BFA in Applied Theatre Arts with a focus in directing from the University of the Arts.
