Strategic Plan Pillar 3

Onward! Pillar 3

Visibility & Growth

At DeSales, we work hard to attract and support great students, faculty, and staff. Hospitality is one of our core values. We use it to create a warm, welcoming community where people feel they belong.

This focus helps make our Catholic, Salesian identity clear and inviting to future students, employees, and partners. By staying true to our values, using our academic strengths, and keeping enrollment strong, we offer a DeSales experience that draws people in naturally.

Our goal is to grow in a real and honest way. We believe that when we live our mission and share our story with others, we will attract people who believe in our purpose and want to help our community thrive.

Goal 1:

Enhance the DeSales Welcome Experience for All

We are working to improve how we welcome new students and community members into the DeSales family. This includes their first visit and every step that follows as they learn more about our mission. Our goal is to make sure every person feels valued and connected from the moment they meet us and throughout their time with the University.

Goal 2:

Leverage Existing Strengths to Advance Our Reputation and Reach

Our strong academic programs help us grow our reputation and reach more people. By showing the excellence we already have, we prove that we can continue to grow and innovate. This approach builds on what we do well and helps DeSales become more visible in higher education and in the community.

Goal 3:

Sustain Total Enrollment That Optimizes Positive Tuition Revenues

We are focused on keeping enrollment strong in all our programs—traditional day, graduate, and adult studies. Our goal is to reach 1,800 traditional day students, including a freshman class of 510 students with an average GPA of 3.4. We plan to enroll 70 transfer students each year and keep strong retention rates so that 412 students graduate annually. Graduate programs will aim for 3,000 total registrations, and adult studies will aim for 3,100 registrations each year. We will also work to increase diversity and bring in new revenue by welcoming qualified international students and forming strategic partnerships.

Goal 4:

Promote Our Catholic, Salesian Mission Through University Core Values

Our visibility and growth depend on sharing our five core values in a real and honest way: gentleness, humility, gratitude, hospitality, and wisdom. The University Mission Committee is defining each value and showing how they connect to our Catholic, Salesian mission. We are creating campaigns to teach and highlight these values across campus. This work includes support from institutional advancement, student life, academic affairs, and marketing. We will measure how well students, faculty, and staff understand these values through surveys. Follow-up surveys will help us see how these values shape our community over time.
