Am I eligible?
You may be eligible if you meet the following criteria:
- You are enrolled as a high school junior or senior
- Your school or accredited program evaluator can indicate that you are making satisfactory progress toward graduation requirements
- DeSales University has determined that you have demonstrated readiness for coursework in the subject area that you intend to study (this determination will be made after a review of your transcript, standardized test scores, and a recommendation letter)
- You meet all course prerequisites (if any) identified in the DeSales University Undergraduate Catalog
Please note: These courses are offered to eligible high school students on a space-available basis. As a result, we cannot guarantee that each dual enrollment course will have sufficient space for all high school applicants.
How do I apply?
The first step is to complete the application. Next, we’ll need to verify you meet the criteria described above. To do this, we require:
- A High School transcript
- SAT, PSAT, or ACT scores
- A letter from your guidance counselor confirming your eligibility or, if homeschooled, a letter from an accredited program evaluator
These items must be received at least two full weeks before the class's start date. However, applications will be processed in the order that they are received. Consequently, in the event that spaces begin to fill, preference will be given to applications received first.
Complete the online application to obtain directions for submitting a transcript, test scores, and a recommendation letter.
Are there any additional requirements?
- You must maintain a secondary school grade point average of 70 (or the equivalent) in the subject area of study
- You must maintain a 2.0 Cumulative GPA in dual enrollment courses
- You may not enroll in more than 24 post-secondary credits, in total, through this dual enrollment program
What courses are available?
The courses that are offered vary from one year to the next. Please follow the instructions in the Course Selection Guide for Dual Enrollment to explore our course offerings on WebAdvisor.
What is the cost?
Most courses are three credits. So, at the high school student tuition of $216 per credit, you typically pay just $648 per course. Many courses also require the purchase of textbooks and some require additional fees (e.g., for laboratory equipment), the costs of which may vary.
What can I do with the credits that I earn?
At the conclusion of a course, the credits will be added to the student’s DeSales University transcript. If a dual enrollment student later enrolls at DeSales after graduating from high school, these credits will apply to the student’s undergraduate degree requirements. Students may request an official transcript at www.desales.edu/transcript. DeSales University does not make any guarantees to students related to transfer of college credit, as it is the decision of the receiving institution whether to accept previous college credits earned upon admission.
