After losing her father, uncle, and grandmother to cancer, Morgan Landau ’24, an early childhood education major, became determined to make a positive impact.

She joined the DeSales chapter of Colleges Against Cancer and eventually became president. Since then, she has been committed to raising funds for cancer patients and research.

“I play many roles on the DeSales campus, including being a resident advisor, an athlete, a career associate, and a member of various other clubs and organizations. But the role I’m most proud of is being president of Colleges Against Cancer.”

As the organizer of this year’s annual Relay for Life event held at DeSales, Landau played a critical role in its success.

During the event, student organizations set up tables with fun activities, and participants walked around a track created by students to show their support for those whose lives have been touched by cancer and raise money to support the fight against the disease. The event also featured various student-led performances, board game tournaments, yoga, and a special candle service to honor the memory of those who have lost their battle with cancer.

"I wanted to give back because I wanted to help people who are currently battling cancer,” said Landau, “I don't want anyone to experience the loss of a parent as I have."

Thanks to the efforts of Landau, Colleges Against Cancer, several other organizations at DeSales, and generous donors, the event raised an astounding $13,144.01.
