Banned Books Week in Trexler Library

This week, Trexler Library is celebrating Banned Books Week with their “Fight for Your Right to Read” display located in the library lobby.

Banned Books Week is held during the last week of September and encourages readers, teachers, and educators alike to read materials that may have once been censored, challenged, or banned. Libraries and education systems still face challenges against the materials they have in their collections because they contain profanity, LGBTQ+ representation, racism, etc. Trexler Library’s goal is to ensure everyone has the freedom to read the books they choose without fear or repercussion.

Our display features dozens of titles, including classics such as “The Outsiders,” “Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl,” and “To Kill a Mockingbird,” as well as popular fiction and children’s literature.

Check out a banned book this week in Trexler!
