I'm currently a junior here at DeSales.

I was a sergeant in the US Marine Corps
and currently serving as a sergeant

Inactive Ready Reserve. I chose to come
here because of the excellent veteran

organization that they have here. The
transition from active duty to a

full-time student was a tough one to
begin with but coming here at DeSales

the advisors and everyone here has
helped me make it an easy transition.

DeSales University’s commitment to veterans keeps growing stronger. The University is proud to announce that it has been named a 2020-2021 Military Friendly® School.

The designation measures an organization’s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful opportunity for the military community.

“Of course, it is an honor to be named military friendly. But, it is also a reminder of our mission to serve those who have served others as they pursue personal, academic, and professional success.”

Joann Haws, director of the Office of Veterans and Military Services

Criteria for the designation is based on public data, surveys of veterans, and a survey of schools based on six categories, including military student support and retention, culture and commitment, and graduation and career outcomes. The school survey is the longest running and most comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving military and veteran students.

In 2019, DeSales became one of just 30 schools statewide to be named to the Pennsylvania National Guard Associations’ (PNGAS) inaugural list of Guard Friendly Schools. That same year, the University partnered with Bancroft Capital, a certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), on a Veterans Education Initiative.
