The St. Vincent de Paul Society is making a big impact on the environment with its first event on campus.

The society partnered with PAR-Recycle Works, a Philadelphia based non-profit that provides transitional employment to people returning from prison, to host a computer recycling event.

“It helps the environment plus it puts people to work, so it’s really a win-win on both sides in meeting our mission,” says Dr. Stephen Carp, assistant professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program.

In all, about 100 computers were collected from the University and staff members.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society started last semester and is dedicated to putting faith into action by serving those in need of assistance. It plans to make computer recycling a regular event on campus and is also organizing a clothing drive in the fall.
