Members of the Class of 2023 and their families received a warm welcome and words of encouragement during an opening day prayer service.

The service featured readings from the gospel and St. Francis de Sales, as well as a reflection from Father James Greenfield, OSFS ’84, president of DeSales, who encouraged students to live the best life they can at college.

“It was an experience to call God’s mercy, grace, and hope to this new year,” says Father Daniel Lannen, OSFS, University chaplain. “I am a firm believer that when you are gathered together, hoping and praying for the betterment of others, it is the most powerful shared experience.”

The day also featured two Masses. A Mass of the Holy Spirit will be held in September for the entire campus community.
