Author Jim Nevada Inspires Students to Lead with Purpose
Author Jim Nevada visited DeSales University to teach future business leaders about purpose-driven leadership.
Dr. David Gilfoil, vice president for marketing and planning, introduced the author, professional keynote speaker, and entrepreneur to a crowd of about 75 students, faculty, and staff.
“The only meaningful pursuit in life is one that is driven by purpose. Most leaders, most executives, most CEOs do not lead with purpose. Most lead with fear.”
In his book, Igniting Purpose-Driven Leadership, Nevada discusses the three Ps of highly successful entrepreneurship: purpose, problem solving, and profit.
He pointed to the successes of companies like Airbnb and Warby Parker, and to leaders like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, whose main purpose was to bring computer technology to the masses.
Nevada also stressed the importance of disruption, which he said is not about technology or innovation, but rather a way of operating.
“Disruption is about taking that entrepreneurial spirit that resides in each of us to make the changes you need in your life personally as a leader. Then to make the changes you need in your business.”
