Honoring the Dream - Martin Luther King Jr. Day

The DSU community came together virtually to honor the life, legacy, and inspiration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Students, faculty, and staff took part in a video message, reciting parts of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech to mark MLK Day.

With students not yet back on campus, Scott Blair, associate vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion, came up with the creative solution as a show of solidarity.

“As we acknowledge the significance of this day and of the ministry of Dr. King, we must never forget his message of love, his message of hope, and the challenges he faced in his efforts in creating an equitable world for all; a struggle that eventually cost him his life,” says Blair. “On this day, one cannot ignore the words of Dr. King in acknowledging the need for us to lift all voices up as a nation to complete the mission of racial, social, and economic justice.”

DeSales is also set to honor Black History Month with a number of events, which will culminate on February 25 with a keynote engagement featuring Dr. Damon Williams, a nationally recognized diversity champion, and his Inclusive Excellence Tour.
