COVID-19 Health and Safety Expectations
Returning to campus for the Fall 2020 semester, all members of the DeSales University community have an important role to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
As a member of this Salesian community, I commit to:
- Participating honestly in various health screening protocols (self-assessment, questioning, temperature checks, testing, etc.) on a daily basis
- Agreeing to be tested for COVID-19 and potential subsequent self-quarantine, if I am identified as a contact of anyone who has been determined to be positive for COVID-19
- Self-quarantining, if I test positive for COVID-19, in a designated location until:
- My symptoms have resolved, and
- At least ten days have passed since the start of my symptoms, and
- I have a negative COVID-19 test result
- Reporting any known or potential exposures to COVID-19 to covid19@desales.edu
- Self-monitoring regularly for the following symptoms:
- A fever of 100.4° F or higher
- Respiratory symptoms, such as dry cough or shortness of breath
- Sore throat, headache
- Unexplained body aches and/or chills
- Loss of taste or smell
- Reporting my condition to 610-282-1002, or extension 1250, if symptomatic, or if I have tested positive, so DeSales University can determine if contract tracing is appropriate.
- Participating fully and honestly with designated DSU staff for contact tracing to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19
- Getting the flu vaccination
- Wearing a mask/face covering in public, as recommended by the Commonwealth of PA, or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to my educational activity
- Practicing physical distancing, as much as possible
- Washing and/or sanitizing my hands frequently
- Abiding by all signage regarding entrances, exits, direction of travel, occupancy of common spaces, etc.
- Bringing no guests, including family members, to campus until this restriction has been lifted by the University.
- Self-quarantining for 14 days if I have traveled to an area under the Commonwealth’s quarantine order.
- Keeping my personal space, shared common space, and my belongings clean
- Maintaining clean public and shared spaces after I have used classroom, laboratory, or recreational equipment and library materials.
Acknowledgement of Risk
I understand COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus, and it is possible to develop and contract the COVID-19 disease, even if I follow all of the safety precautions above and those recommended by the CDC, state and local department of health, and DSU. I understand that although the University is following the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the CDC and other experts to mitigate the spread, I can never be completely shielded from all risk of illnesses caused by COVID-19 or other infections.
I have read, understand, and agree to comply with the health and safety expectations above. I also acknowledge that these expectations are a condition of my employment and/or my educational experience at DeSales University and that any failure to comply may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including, termination of employment or suspension of student privileges.
I take my educational opportunity and responsibility to community standards seriously, and I will be Ready for Anything to protect the DeSales University community.
