Wayne S. Turney
Wayne Turney has been able to maintain a professional career as well as a presence in the classroom. He currently teaches Acting, Directing, Theatre History, Dramatic Literature, and Shakespeare, and has directed numerous professional and college productions from classics and Shakespeare to experimental contemporary plays. Mr. Turney served as dramaturg at the Cleveland Play House during which time he gave staged readings to more than a dozen new works, more than half of which went on to full Equity Productions.
He co-founded the Ohio New Play Festival. He was a principal performer for many seasons with the Cleveland Play House, the Great Lakes Theater Festival, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Actors’ Summit, and more. He starred for eight years in NBC Production’s Hickory Hideout for which he won an Emmy. For the last seven seasons, he has been a regular with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. He is a licensed pilot with a multi-engine jet rating (B-707).
