Sarah Luther is an assistant professor and coordinator of the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program. She obtained both her BSN and AGACNP Post-MSN certification from DeSales University. Sarah’s clinical practice began in ICU as a nurse within the LVHN Burn Center but has since been primarily focused within the specialty of cardiology. Sarah was a cardiac catheterization lab nurse with roles in both the primary cardiac area as well as being a member of the Interventional Peripheral Vascular team. Sarah has also served as a nurse within the cardiology office setting, taking a lead role in patient and staff education. As a nurse practitioner, Sarah continued to practice cardiology and most recently with cardio-thoracic surgery.
Sarah has always had a strong desire to give back to the nursing profession through education and joined the DeSales nursing faculty in June 2017. She finds joy and excitement in developing learning tools and techniques to help her students grasp difficult clinical concepts. Sarah assists with teaching our nurse practitioner students during their procedures course focusing on the hands-on acute care skills needed in an ICU setting. Sarah also teaches the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner specialty/clinical courses for our students.
Sarah is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Mu Omicron Chapter and is also a faculty member of the American College of Cardiology, focusing on the Heart Songs and the Hand-held Echo program by assisting the creator of these courses, Dr. Michael Barrett.
