Carol Gullo Mest, Ph.D., RN, ANP-BC, FAANP
Chair of Graduate Nursing Programs; Professor
Dr. Carol Gullo Mest is a professor of nursing and chair of the graduate nursing programs. She has been board certified as an adult nurse practitioner for more than 35 years and has served in a wide variety of primary care roles, including adult health/internal medicine, occupational health, migrant health, student health, and public health in Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley.
Her teaching responsibilities include Advanced Health and Physical Assessment and Epidemiology and Biostatistics. In addition, she teaches Community Assessment and Health Planning for the MBA Program.
Dr. Gullo Mest has redesigned and developed all of the MSN Program offerings, as well as developed the DNP Program, throughout her 25 years at DeSales University. She has secured more than $2.5 million in grants to support student tuition, to hire and retain faculty, and to originate community programs, and to initiate simulation for the Division of Nursing. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She was inducted as a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in June 2020. She received the Lehigh Valley Business Health Care Hero Lifetime Achievement Award in June 2021.
Dr. Gullo Mest is active in the community and has served on several boards, most recently as a board member of Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Medical Reserve Corps/ServPA for the cities of Allentown and Bethlehem. Dr. Gullo Mest maintains an active clinical practice with Matrix Medical and Optum Health Services. She enjoys biking, hiking, and gardening in her spare time.
Dr. Gullo Mest received her BSN from West Chester University and her MSN/ANP from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her Ph.D. at Temple University with a concentration in health program planning.
