Sound Designer and Supervisor

A full-time, 12-month staff position with shared report to the Division of Performing Arts and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, the sound designer/supervisor will serve as the resident sound designer for division (academic year) and PSF (summer) productions. The sound designer/supervisor will oversee all operational maintenance of the Labuda Center sound systems.

Responsibilities also include: sound design, creating and supervising all aspects of sound capture, recording, mixing & amplification, including builds, load-ins, technical rehearsals, performances and strikes for all productions; oversight and maintenance of sound systems and operations; troubleshooting technical problems; supervising/mentoring student and professional sound crews and supporting the programming and production needs of select university events occurring within the Labuda Center for the Performing arts.   

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in theatrical sound design required.
  • MFA in theatrical sound design/production preferred.
  • Highly advanced audio (digital and analog) skills required.
  • Professional-level sound design ability and experience required.  Composition a plus, as is experience collaborating with composers.
  • Advanced computer skills required.
