Rev. Thomas F. Dailey, O.S.F.S., S.T.D.
Father Thomas Dailey, OSFS, joined the faculty of DeSales University in 1988 and was a tenured Professor of Theology. Appointed in 2008 as the first Fr. Louis Brisson, OSFS, Chair in Salesian Spirituality. Rev. Dailey left DeSales in July 2017.
In 2000, he founded the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University, through the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture, he collaborated in the establishment of
the Baranzano Society on bioethics in 2003,
the ►Ryan Leadership Institute in 2005,
the ►Forum for Ethics in the Workplace in 2006,
the Lehigh Valley Coalition on Sport Ethics in 2007, and
the Thonon Group for Info-Ethics in 2011.
Father Dailey holds a doctoral degree in sacred theology (S.T.D.) from the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome), where he completed his dissertation on the biblical Book of Job. He has lectured worldwide on topics in biblical theology, Salesian spirituality, and Catholic higher education. He has written, edited or translated six books and more than forty articles/chapters in a variety of publications in the USA and abroad. He has also served as a features writer for local newspapers and has appeared on radio and television in local and national markets.
Father Dailey sits on the board of directors of The Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley, on the board of directors of Holy Ghost Preparatory School (Bensalem, PA), and on the editorial board of the Indian Journal of Spirituality (Bangalore, India).
A member of the Academy of Catholic Theology, Fr. Dailey also serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Catholic Higher Education. He is past-president of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, a past trustee of the Salesianum School (Wilmington, DE), and a past board member/officer of the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley (PA).
He has lectured at the Washington Theological Union, St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Immaculata University, and the National Institute for Clergy Formation. In 2013-2014 he served as the inaugural ► John Cardinal Foley Chair in Homiletics & Social Communications at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia.
Among other awards, he has four times been selected for inclusion in the list of Who's Who Among America's Teachers, twice been nominated for Who's Who Among Executives and Professionals, and is the 2008 recipient of the Liberty Bell Award, the highest honor presented by the Bar Association of Lehigh County.
Fr. Dailey entered the religious congregation of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales (O.S.F.S.) in 1980, was ordained to the diaconate in St. Peter’s Basilica (Rome) in 1986, and was ordained to the priesthood in St. Anthony’s Church (Wilmington, DE) in 1987.
