Law & Society

The Bachelor of Arts major in Law and Society provides students with the skills necessary for a successful career in law. The major also offers an excellent liberal arts education for those interested in the role of law in American society. The program uses a multidisciplinary approach that promotes writing skills, legal research skills, oral argumentation skills, and the capacity for critical thinking.

In addition, the major provides students with courses that study the judicial system and various areas of the law: criminal, constitutional, business, family, torts, environmental, health, etc.

All Law and Society majors are encouraged to participate in a pre-law society, mock trial team competition, and to complete a law-related internship.Students graduating from DeSales University have gone onto receive law degrees from Dickinson, Georgetown, Harvard, Notre Dame, Stanford, Villanova among many other institutions.

St. Thomas More Society

The St. Thomas More Society is a campus student organization for students interested in the law who are considering law school or law-related careers.  Students have the opportunity to meet with law students and practicing lawyers, take field trips to observe the court system in action, learn about the law school application process, and participate in law-related community service activities.
