“One thing I like about DeSales is that they’re really focused on individual students and the connection with professors so that you can really hone in on what you’re learning.”

How did you learn about the Leadership Scholarship?

I first saw it when we came to an open house. Since I'm a triplet, we were looking at ways to really save money. My brother is studying at Penn State and my sister is at Pitt. We were looking at DeSales because the criminal justice program here is really good.

What was your essay about?

I wrote about a lot of the activities I was involved in and the leadership roles I had in them. Since I was a drum major [in band], we went to Hawaii and we marched in the Waikiki holiday parade. We also played at the USS Missouri memorial and the USS Arizona. Alongside us was a 95-year-old World War II veteran. He was a bugler on the USS Pennsylvania so he accompanied us to help represent our state. That was really cool.

What does this scholarship mean to you?

A lot. Just getting it was an honor. I'm just really glad to have it especially since it takes a lot off our parents’ shoulders to pay for college.

Fun Fact?

I’m a black belt in Okinawan Matsumora Shorin Ryu Karate.
