Salesian Center to Host 12th Annual Heritage Week

The Salesian Center for Faith & Culture will host the 12th annual Heritage Week at DeSales University, a series of events celebrating the legacy of St. Francis de Sales, patron of DeSales University.  All the events, except for Sunday’s Mass, which will take place in Connelly Chapel, will take place in the DeSales University Center on the DeSales campus in Center Valley.  All events are free and open to the public and run Sunday, January 22, through Thursday, January 26. No tickets are required. 

The lineup of speakers for Heritage Week begins with the Mass of St. Francis de Sales at 8:00 p.m., on Sunday, January 22, in Connelly Chapel at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa. Our guest homilist will be The Reverend Thomas P. Ferguson, vicar general and moderator of the Curia, Diocese of Arlington, Va.

On Monday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. our special guest speaker for the biomedical ethics forum is Ellen Jorgensen, PH.D., founder and executive director of GENSPACE, New York City’s Community Biolab.

Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. we welcome Kathryn Jean Lopez, editor-at-large of NRO, senior fellow at the National Review Institute, and director of Catholic Voices for a town hall on social communications.

On Wednesday, January 25 at 7:00 p.m., we host a law & society seminar on health care reform in law and practice with Alice A. Noble, M.P.H., J.D., senior lecturer in health, science, society, and policy at The Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University.

The week closes on Thursday, January 26 at 8:00 p.m. with the R. Wayne and Joan Kraft Memorial Lecture on faith and culture. Michael Root, PH.D., professor at The Catholic University of America and member of the Lutheran - Roman Catholic Commission on Unity will discuss Martin Luther after 500 Years.
