Institute for Latino Studies Co-Director to speak at Hesburgh Lecture

 "The Changing of the American Voter in 2016 and Beyond” is the topic of discussion for the 2016 Hesburgh Lecture presented by The Notre Dame Club of the Lehigh Valley and hosted by The Salesian Center for Faith and Culture. The event will take place on Thursday, September 29, at 7:00 p.m. in the DeSales University Center on the Center Valley Campus. The lecture is free and open to the public and will feature Luis Ricardo Fraga, Hesburgh Lecturer 2016Luis Ricardo Fraga, Ph.D. co-director of the Institute for Latino Studies and Notre Dame Professor in Transformative Latino Leadership.

Fraga received his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University and his Master of Arts and Doctorate degrees from Rice University. He has co-written several books, manuscripts, and journals on immigration and minority groups in the US. In 2011, he was appointed to the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics by President Obama. Additionally, he has received several awards for his outstanding achievements in minority politics, including the first Juan Diego Award in 2013.

The Hesburgh Lecture Series is hosted by local Notre Dame Alumni Clubs in honor of Notre Dame President Emeritus, Reverend Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C.  The series began in 1986 to bring Notre Dame’s academic excellence to alumni and their local communities and each year more than 70 lectures are presented around the country. This is the first Hesburgh Lecture presented by the Notre Dame Club of the Lehigh Valley.
