DeSales Welcomes 13 New Faculty Members

DeSales University is pleased to welcome 13 new full-time faculty members for the 2016-2017 academic year. Dr. Karen Walton, provost and vice president for academic affairs, announced the appointments.

Dr. Stephen Carp is an assistant professor of physical therapy in the division of healthcare. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Temple University.

Rachel Coleman is an instructor of theology in the department of philosophy and theology. She earned her bachelor’s degree from DeSales University and her master’s degree from the John Paul II Institute, where she is also currently a Ph.D. candidate.

Dr. LaShara Davis serves as an assistant professor of communication in the department of humanities. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, and her master’s degree and doctorate from Purdue University.

Esther Duran serves as an assistant professor of TV/Film in the division of performing arts. She earned her MaČ‹trise de Sociologie from the Université de Paris VIII and her master’s degree from Columbia University.

Dr. Mary Lou Gies is an assistant professor of nursing in the department of nursing and health. She received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Temple University, her master of science in nursing degree from Villanova University, and her doctor of education degree from Nova Southeastern University.

Jared Gordon works as an assistant professor of TV/Film in the division of performing arts. He received his bachelor’s degree from New York University and his master’s degree from Hollins University.

Mary Imparato works as an instructor of political science in the department of social sciences. She received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, her master’s degree from City University of New York/Queens College, and she is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Rutgers University.

Amanda Jenkinson is an instructor of nursing in the department of nursing and health. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester, her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University, her master of science in nursing degree from Georgetown University, and she is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Villanova University.

Dr. Renee Koval is an assistant professor of nursing in the department of nursing and health. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Kentucky, and her advanced practice registered nurse certificate and doctor of nursing practice degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. 

Dr. Jacqueline Ochsenreither serves as an assistant professor of nursing in the department of nursing and health. She earned her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales, her master of science in nursing degree and certified registered nurse practitioner certification from the University of Pennsylvania, and she returned to DeSales University for her doctor of nursing practice degree.

Alyssa Robertson serves as an instructor of nursing in the department of nursing and health. She received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Phoenix and her master of science in nursing degree from Drexel University.

Julie Skrzat is an assistant professor of physical therapy in the division of healthcare. She earned her bachelor’s and doctor of physical therapy degrees from Ithaca College, and is a Ph.D. candidate at Temple University.

Joseph Walsh Jr. is an instructor of criminal justice in the department of social sciences. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Strayer University and his master of arts in criminal justice degree from DeSales University.
