 Phone Privacy Debate

"Privacy vs. Security: The Battle Between Apple and the FBI" will be the topic of a  Center Valley Forum on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. in the DeSales University Center on the Center Valley Campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by the Salesian Center for Faith & Culture at DeSales, the forum will feature a panel that will include Yinzhi Cao, assistant professor of computer science and engineering at Lehigh University, Paul Iannace, commander of the Officer David Petzold Digital Forensics Laboratory of Lehigh County, and William E. Ford, partner at the Ford Law Office. 

Cao is an expert in mobile security/privacy in the Computer Science & Engineering department at Lehigh University. He received a Bachelor of Engineering from Northwestern University and a Doctor of Philosophy in computer science from Tsinghua University. Cao has many published works to his name and served as a member of the Program Committee for IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security. He is also the Web Chair for the First International Workshop on Security in Embedded Systems and Smartphones.

Iannace received his degree in Criminal Justice from Norwich University in 1989 and served as a computer crime investigator/digital forensic analyst and a supervisor for the Computer Crime Task Force and Computer Crime Lab for the Pennsylvania State Police for many years. Iannace holds certifications in Forensic Computer Examiner; The International Association of Computer Investigations Specialists; EnCase Certified Examiner; Guidance Software; Accessdata Certified Examiner; and Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator.

Ford is a former trial judge for Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas. He graduated from DeSales University and earned a J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 1975. He served as a captain in the United States Marine Corps and as an assistant district attorney for Lehigh County from 1979 to 1981 and 1983 to 1991. Judge Ford also had a private civil practice, concentrating in defense litigation, from 1981 to 1991.
