The Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University continues to honor the Blessed John Paul II with its annual memorial Arts & Culture series event.
This year the Salesian Center will host a free movie premiere of Francis: The Pope From The New World on Wednesday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center, DeSales campus in Center Valley.
A question and answer session will take place following the movie with special guest, and fellow Jesuit, Fr. David Vincent Meconi, S.J., assistant professor of Theological Studies at Saint Louis University.
Meconi teaches courses on Trinitarian theology, Christology and soteriology in the early Church, the history of Christian deification, and St. Augustine of Hippo. He recently marked his first year as editor of Homiletic & Pastoral Review. He graduated from Hope University, obtaining a degree in philosophy and theology and attended Yale and Marquette University, where he was able to study the German language. He studied abroad in Rome at Gregorian and at Innsbruck in Germany where he studied to be a Jesuit. Meconi then attended Oxford University to deepen his educational pursuits. Fr. Meconi speaks many languages including English, German, Italian, Spanish, French, Greek, and Latin. He became a Jesuit in 2002.
The John Paul II Memorial Arts & Culture series is a celebration of the life and legacy of Blessed John Paul II (1920-2005), the Salesian Center sponsors this annual event focusing on the beauty of the arts (music, drama, poetry, literature, etc.). The event is held annually, on or around the April 2nd date of the pontiff's death. All performances are FREE and OPEN to the public.
