Salesian Center To Host 9th Annual Heritage Week, January 19-23

The Salesian Center for Faith and Culture will host the 9th annual Heritage Week at DeSales University, a series of events celebrating the legacy of St. Francis de Sales, patron of DeSales University. All the events, except for Sunday, will take place in the DeSales University Center on the DeSales campus in Center Valley. All events are free and open to the public and run Sunday, January 19 through Thursday, January 23. No tickets are required.

Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University“Each year during Heritage Week we honor St. Francis de Sales and celebrate his lasting legacy and ongoing impact in today’s culture,” said the Rev. Thomas Dailey, OSFS, director of the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture.

The lineup of speakers and events for Heritage Week begins with the Mass of St. Francis de Sales at 8 p.m., on Sunday, January 19, in Connelly Chapel at DeSales University in Center Valley Pa. Our guest celebrant and homilist will be Rev. Edward Ogden, O.S.F.S., director of Oblate Formation in Washington, DC.

On Monday, January 20, at 7:30 the movie premiere of The Voice of John will take place. Our special guest for this event is Mary Ann Lawhon, the executive producer and ‘voice of John.’

Tuesday, January 21, we welcome Ryan T. Anderson, Simon Fellow at the Heritage Foundation for our seminar on Law & Society. The topic of discussion will be Marriage & Civil Society in the USA. This event will begin at 7:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, January 22, at 7:30 p.m. we celebrate the Christian Humanist with a Forum on Biomedical Ethics. The topic of discussion will be on ‘How Stress Gets under the Skin’ with special guest speaker Cindy S. Bergeman, Ph.D., professor of Psychology at the University of Notre Dame.

The week closes on Thursday, January 23, at 8:00 p.m. with the R. Wayne Kraft Memorial Lecture on faith and culture. Our special guest will be Mary Eberstadt, Senior Fellow at the Ethics & Public Policy Center. Ms. Eberstadt will discuss Faith, Family & Secularization.
