Chuck Gloman’s film, You’re an Angel has won the prestigious Award of Merit for Viewer Impact: Motivational/Inspirational Film from The Indie Fest, an internationally renowned festival of independent films held in La Jolla, California. Gloman is the director of the TV/Film program at DeSales University.
"You’re an Angel was produced as a class project involving his TV/Film freshmen class and features exceptional special effects, creative cinematography, and an amazing performance from DeSales University theatre major Emily Levan," said Gloman
“I’m extremely excited to receive this award and appreciate all of the outstanding work our freshmen TV/Film class committed to make this production a reality.” he continues.
“Collaborating with students on this film was as equally rewarding as it was challenging. It gave the faculty mentors some insight into the students’ creative voices, visual storytelling, as well as a measurement of their range of skills in various crew positions.” said Mike Wagner, director of the film and an assistant professor in the DeSales TV/Film program.
The Indie Fest recognizes film professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change. Entries are judged by highly qualified professionals in the film industry.
In winning an Indie, DeSales University joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award. Thomas Baker, Ph.D., who chairs the Indie Fest, had to say this about the latest winners, “The Indie is not an easy award to win. Entries are received from around the world. The Indie helps set the standard for craft and creativity. The judges were pleased with the exceptionally high quality of entries. The goal of The Indie is to help winners achieve the recognition they deserve.”
