On Sunday, August 25, DeSales University welcomed 430 freshmen and 80 transfer students to the campus to begin the 2013-14 academic year.
Loaded up cars began arriving at 8:00 a.m. as the first wave of resident students and their families arrived. Current students, faculty, alumni, parents of current students all assisted the student life staff in helping to move the newest Bulldogs into Tocik, Conmy, and Aviat halls.
A picnic lunch was provided for families as well as resource tents where students could register cars, open a local back account, and ask general questions.
After a parents-only panel and, for the students, the taking of the class photo, Rev. Bernard O'Connor, OSFS, president of DeSales University, celebrated the Opening Mass for the students and their families as well as faculty and staff.
Parents said good bye after mass and students then headed into the DeSales University Center for dinner with faculty who will teach in their declared major.
Orientation of the Class of 2017, which includes many activities, speakers, and entertainment, will continue until Wednesday, August 28, the first day of classes.
