Commencement will be held on the campus mall, which is next to the library. In the event of rain, commencement will be held in Billera Hall.
The location will be announced on the University’s website at www.desales.edu and on the University’s main telephone number at 610.282.1100 by Wednesday evening, May 13.
The graduation weekend begins with a Baccalaureate Mass at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15. All are welcome at Baccalaureate and tickets are not required. Mass will be held at the same location as graduation.
Graduates will receive 10 announcements. Additional personalized announcements can be ordered at college.jostens.com.
Graduates will receive 4 tickets, which will only be needed if commencement is held indoors due to inclement weather. If the ceremony is held outside, tickets are not necessary and seating will be on a first come, first served basis. Guests are also welcome to bring lawn chairs, which can be placed in shaded areas. If commencement is held in Billera Hall due to the weather, guests with tickets will be seated on the recreational courts of the gym. Guests without tickets are welcome to sit on bleachers in the wood basketball court and watch the ceremony on closed circuit television.
Graduates and their families are invited to attend “The Class of 2015 Dinner Dance” hosted by our President, Fr. Bernie O’Connor, in the DeSales University Center immediately following the Baccalaureate Mass on Friday evening. A buffet dinner, open bar, and music are provided from 8:00 p.m. until midnight. There will be a professional photographer at the ceremony who will take a picture of each graduate receiving his or her diploma. A few weeks after the ceremony, the photographer will contact the graduates with information about ordering photographs.
The University makes available complimentary rooms for graduating seniors and their families for Friday evening, May 15. Families and students are housed together in the same alcohol-free residence halls. Housing is not made available for graduates without family members. DSU security personnel will be making continual checks of the residence hall that evening. Campus Police can also be contacted at extension 1250. If the ceremonies are outside, you will be directed to one of the many parking areas that surround the mall area of the campus, where shuttles will be available. Trexler Library parking lot will be used for handicapped parking. In the event of rain, the ceremonies will be moved indoors and the following plan will be in effect: (1) for the Baccalaureate Mass on Friday evening, please park in the parking areas adjacent to Billera Hall; (2) and for the Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, you will be directed to one of the parking areas on the main campus. Shuttle service will be available from all parking areas to Billera Hall and parking lots at Billera Hall will be used for handicapped parking.
Due to the construction at Billera Hall, Faculty and Staff with VIP passes will park in the Dooling Hall lot. Shuttles will begin around 9:15.
If graduation is outside, special needs parking will be in the Trexler Library lot (this is a change from DeChantal Hall).
If graduation is inside, special needs parking will be in the front lot of Billera Hall.
