Special Education Master of Education and/or Special Education Add-on Certification

Master of Education in Special Education

This option is for teachers holding Instructional I or II Certification in fields other than Special Education or desiring to pursue advanced studies in Special Education. 

Add on Certification in Special Education: Pre K-8 OR 7-12

This option is for teachers holding Instructional I or II Certification, and desiring certification in Special Education Pre K-8 or 7-12. as an additional certification. This certification requires a 6-week full field experience/Practicum under a University supervisor and cooperating teacher.

Special Education Pre K-8 OR 7-12 Certification and Degree Program

This option is for teachers who want both certification and a master's degree in Special Education either in grades Pre K-8 or 7-12.

  •      SE 520 Secondary Transition Services (7-12 only) | 3 credits
  •      SE 522 Remedial Techniques in Reading and Writing | 3 credits
  •      SE 526 Content Access for Students with Learning Differences | 3 credits
  •      SE 592 Special Education 6 week Practicum Elementary (Pre K-8 only) | 6 credits or  SE594 Special Education 6 week Practicum Secondary (7-12 only) | 6 credits
  •      ED 515 Foundations of English Learners Education | 3 credits
  •      ED 528 Data Driven Assessment and Planning | 3 credits
