An endorsement in Integrative STEM Education indicates completion of training in theoretical, technical, and pedagogical foundations. Competencies gained via an Integrative STEM endorsement ensure teachers are thoroughly prepared to create effective and engaging STEM experiences in their classrooms in order to impact students’ interest and achievement in STEM.
The core courses, competencies and experiences for an Integrative STEM Education Endorsement are designed to provide instruction in research-based best practices with embedded practical implementation of the practices. Participants will have a variety of assignments ranging from research and reflection of theory and best practice to practical applications in designing instructional objects and facilitating student discussions. Each course has essential field experience/job embedded activities appropriate to developmental level. Offered as university and/or approved IU coursework in hybrid format, participants will demonstrate competencies through coursework assessment, activities, and planned practicum with a mentor relationship.
